marie claire SARAH JESSICA PARKER

My favourite bits from the interview in the November issue of Marie Claire

What do you call balancing three young children, with a thriving acting career and a range of perfumes? Most would say an exercise in insanity. But for Sarah Jessica Parker, it’s just another day at the office.

A former Broadway child star, Sarah Jessica Parker has lived in the public eye for so long, you'd think she'd be as tough-skinned as an elephant by now. But when we meet for lunch in Manhattan, she's still stewing over a New York Post gossip item from that morning claiming that she complained about being called for jury duty. Although she spent hours on the phone explaining it wasn't true, the item ran anyway. I'm astonished she cares. In fact, she cares so much, she spent the previous evening "sobbing to Matthew", admits Parker, referring to her husband of 14 years, Matthew Broderick.

"I never wanted to be a celebrity; I never wanted to be famous. And in my daily life, I work really hard to not trade on it in any way. I am so desperately worried about anybody saying, 'She cut in line', or 'She took our table', or 'She doesn't do her own grocery shopping.' It's not like it's hard to be decent and respectful and well behaved. I do wait in line, and I do take the subway, and I do my own grocery shopping, and I do take the kids to school. But it almost doesn’t matter to a certain segment of the populace."

which body part would you change MARIE CLAIRE

Marie Claire South Africa – November 2011

Media release for their November body issue:
"What will it take for you to love your body? " according to statistics, two out every three women are
unhappy with their bodies and weight. Most women wish they were skinnier. So often the media is
accused of perpetuating the body beautiful image, and this month we have decided to address the issue."

....we also asked six advertising agencies to conceptualise a poster campaign to communicate the
concept of 'Love Your Body'. The work speaks for itself and the message is clear : we do not all have
the same body type BUT, regardless of this, we are all perfect. So what is it going to take for you to
love your body?

DO these campaign images say anything to you.....

Which one appeals to you?

Thank you Mamamia

Katie Holmes: I "Don't Have The Luxury Of Drama"

Katie Holmes graces the cover of Marie Claire

On always bringing along a snack and a colouring book: “My daughter was with me the other day at a work event and it was a long day. I took out some paper and markers that I had in my bag, and someone said to me, ‘Oh, that is so cute,’ and I looked at her and thought, No, this is not cute. This is what all mothers have to do.”
On looking effortless as she balances work and family life: “Because you have to. As an actress who is also a mother, you don’t have the luxury of drama.”
On what's up next: "I'm excited to begin a new phase: roles I might have been afraid to play before, places I want to travel to with my daughter. I'd like to build the design business. But not too fast."

Katie is a woman who strives for excellence in all she does, challenging herself constantly as an actress, mother,

friend, and businesswoman. She achieves her goals often — and in the public eye, an arena that can be even

crueler than most women are to themselves. Somehow, she gives an inordinate amount to her family and friends,

while demanding the highest standard from herself.
