living with teens DAY 4

My eldest daughter (in the orange top) and her friend just before we drove them for their night of fun.

Sorry for the delay in posting. Yesterday was a busy day. Girls are really moody at the moment
and I am sure you know why!

The girls helped with getting the house clean by vacuuming and doing dishes etc.
My eldest daughter (16) had a friend over as they were going to their first under 18's disco/nightclub.
You may be thinking why would I allow her to go well if you knew how sensible and trustworthy
my daughter was, as well as her gorgeous friends. You have to start somewhere and I believe
that the more experience they have before they can drink legally the better.I think they become
more self aware and also get to see other people's behaviour away from school. The security is really
tight and I felt my daughter was safe. I know she would not hesitate to let me know if she felt
uncomfortable or something was happening she did not like.
cannot wait to hear more from them today about how the night was.

living with teens DAY 3

Lazy day here today on this public holiday in NSW. The girls have not changed out of their pj's
and are currently watching The Princess Diaries 2.
The 13 year old made some chocolate brownies earlier. They are her favourite.
She did use a white wings packet mix. My favourite recipe is from Donna Hay

chocolate brownie

  •  200g dark chocolate, chopped
  •  250g butter, chopped
  •  1¾ cups (310g) brown sugar
  •  4 eggs
  •  ⅓ cup (35g) cocoa powder, sifted
  •  1¼ cups (185g) plain (all-purpose) flour, sifted
  •  ¼ teaspoon baking powder
Preheat oven to 160°C (325ºF). Place the chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat and stir until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
Place the sugar, eggs, cocoa, flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add the chocolate mixture and mix until combined. Pour into a 20cm-square slice tin lined with non-stick baking paper. Bake for 50 minutes or until an inserted skewer withdraws clean. Allow to cool slightly in the tin before slicing. Serve warm or cold. Makes 16 slices.

living with teens DAY 2

Another quiet day although eldest daughter went shopping with her father and my youngest
daughter stayed home with me. Today is the NRL grand final and the weather is dismal.
Girls and I are staying home, while the rest of the family are going to watch
the game in Surrey Hills somewhere.

We are also looking after little Harry who is nearly 3. So the girls will have fun playing with him.
A little noisy at the moment with the teens and the 3 year old, but they are having loads of fun.

Watching Junior Masterchef and a DVD Valentines Day.

living with teens DAY 1

Quiet day - eldest daughter spent a few hours studying for her Year 10 certificate trials.
13 year old spent time on her laptop, blogging and chatting to friends.
Both watched Bring It On DVD.
Behaviour really good, a little back chatting but otherwise a calm day.
