beauty trend for S/S 2012

Oh natural! Minimal make-up, nude lips and a flawless complexion.
Look to the matte finish, simplified eyeliner and full brows at Jil Snader.
Or the glowing skin with the rosy lip at Stella McCartney. Keep your look
refined with a tinted moisturiser for a healthy looking base and finish with
a lip balm and a light coat of mascara.

mumma to be BEYONCE

Mom-To-Be Beyonce: "I Still Rock My Stilettos!"

Radiant mumma to be Beyonce graces the cover of Harper's Bazzar for November.

On how she picks her outfits:
"I like to show my waistline and legs. I feel women should find their best features and accentuate them but it's interesting to be versatile. I let my mood dictate what I wear before my curves. Sometimes I feel classic, sometimes I feel like a hipster. Sometimes I feel like a seductress and sometimes I feel like a tomboy. It's great to be a woman and have the freedom to express my emotions through fashion."
On revealing her pregnancy at the VMAs:
"I put a lot of thought into how I wanted to unveil it. It was important to me that I was able to do it myself ... I didn't want a crazy picture or gossip story to break the news, so I decided to say nothing and proudly show my baby bump. I felt it was more powerful to see the love and enthusiasm as opposed to saying anything."
On her forthcoming maternity line for House of Dereon:
"All I see now are clothes that are flattering on a pregnant woman ... It's been so exciting for me! I love figuring out designs that still make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant. Flowy fabrics are always flattering, but I still rock my stilettos."

How To FOUNDATION

Estée Lauder creative makeup director Tom Pecheux gives his indispensable guide to achieving complexion perfection ...

One: “You need to start with a great-quality base. Backstage at the shows on models, I always mix Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair [$105, 1800 061 326] in with a dab of moisturiser, then work it into the skin. Don’t use too much or you’ll end up with a greasy face.”

Two: “If you have time, a little massage on the pressure points on the inner corners of the eyes and the temples works wonders in boosting blood flow.”

Three: “Your skin constantly changes both texture-wise and colour-wise, so every woman should own two foundations: one for winter and one for the summer.”

Four: “Generally I always opt for a foundation slightly darker than skin to keep it “warm”. Powder seems to lighten things up, and you don’t want to look like you are wearing a mask. And if you’re putting your hair up, don’t forget applying a little foundation to ears.”

Five: “I like to use my fingers rather than a brush, massaging in the makeup to really warm it into skin
and make it transparent. When you reach the eye area, apply using light finger taps.”

Six: “Skin around the inner corners of the eyes is transparent, so a dot of concealer mixed with foundation should do the trick.”

Seven: “There’s a knack to applying powder: take the brush, ‘grab’ the powder and dust off the excess. If powder sits on the edge of the brush you end up with patches. Powder the eyelids too — for eye shadow to stay put all day, the eyelids need to be totally dry.”
